I am Gen.

Hi I’m Gen. … No no no… that sounded awkward. HEY I’m Gen! … Nah too bubbly… Ok ok ok… I’m genuine. I’m just gonna let that sink in.

Hey I’m Gen Nguyen and welcome to my blog!

I love jokes so let’s start off with a one. What did the sushi say to the bee?

Were you able to figure it out? If not, keep reading and I’ll tell you the answer!

My name’s pronounced “Jen win.” But you can also call me genuine (ba dum ksh). If you’re reading this today, I’m 22 plus change. I don’t have much to talk about in regards to being successful in a career, but I would consider myself somewhat successful in my own way.

And what way is that? Well, I guess the only way to find out is to stick around.

Here, to get started, let me share a little secret about myself: I’ve been bullied throughout my whole life by my friends, family, and even myself.

But I guess being the youngest in my family, I had gotten used to it.

As you get to learn more about me, I’ll tell you more about my life and my thoughts with all quirks included. I get it if you wanna test out the waters before diving right in. Every movie needs a trailer right? So here’s mine:

SPOTLIGHT ON ME.

Cue Introducing Me by Nick Jonas from Camp Rock 2.

So . . . I’m pretty much your average human being. I went through several years of schooling, 16 years to be exact. Graduated, and now I’m jobless (gotta love the economy right now).

I’m 22 now and still haven’t found my purpose or figured out what I wanna do for the rest of my life. I tried premed (biology screwed me over), research (writing reports is a pain in the ass), and teaching (kids can be very cruel).

I’ve had some sad moments in my life. The usual ups and downs. Friends come and go naturally but there were people who completely ignored me. Rejection hurts and I’ve been rejected a lot too (but most of them were job applications).

But, honestly, even though I feel lost now, I couldn’t ask for anything more (except a job, I need a job).

I grew up playing video games, watching TV, doing somewhat normal kids stuff. To me, I felt there was never a dull day in my life. Especially since I’m accident prone… I’ve been to the hospital countless of times, possibly the most in my family, no joke. There was one time where my brother tugged on my arm so hard it dislocated. I was in so much pain that I passed out and the next thing I knew, I’m in the waiting room of the ER with my dad. There’s just so much to talk about when it comes to all the accidents that occurred over the last 22 years but we’ll save that for a different blog.

Come watch me take on this journey we call life as I reminisce about all these memories, share my tales and learn from every experience. Maybe you’ll find that I’m not some average person -- that I really am genuine. Or maybe you won’t, but that’s okay. I am writing for my future self and for anyone who is willing to find out more about me as I find more about myself. This is a documentary of my life because knowing me and my sleep schedule, I’m gonna get Alzheimer’s soon.

If I had to sum up my life with one movie it would be Scary Movie the movie. A seemingly scary movie but in reality, a harmless comedy. Just like my face, notorious for a seemingly intense RBF but in reality, a harmless bean. Also, I’m not good with horrors nor thrillers.

Coming to a blog near you. Rated G for Gen.

THE END . . . of a beginning!

If you’ve read this far, I wanna thank you. Here is the answer to the joke: Wasabi! Thank you Katrina Tran for the joke.

Stick around for more future puns and jokes!
